Starting at pre-school maybe the first time that your child has been separated from you so we put lots of effort into making this an enjoyable experience. We suggest that you visit pre-school at least once with your child for a play morning where you stay and help them to settle in. You can do this as many times as you think is necessary.
What to bring
Change of clothes | Fruit snack to share | Nappies and wipes (if required) | Suitable outdoor clothing.
Key Person
We operate a key person system where each member of staff is responsible for a small number of children. This will help your child to settle in and ensures that each child has plenty of one to one time with a member of staff. The key person maintains an ongoing record of your child’s development, a Learning Journey which you can view online via Tapestry. At any time you can ask to discuss your child’s progress with either their key person or Emma Round the pre-school leader.
Arrival and collection
We are only insured to care for children within the session times. Please arrive and collect your child on time. If someone who is not known to the staff at pre-school will be collecting your child then you must let us know.
Clothing
Please don’t send your children in their best clothes as we encourage them to have fun and that sometimes means getting dirty!
Illness
If your child has been sick in the night or has diarrhoea please keep them at home. They should not return to pre-school for 24 hours after the symptoms of their illness have passed. If your child becomes ill during the session we will contact you immediately. We need written permission and details of dosage if we are required to administer medicine/inhalers to your child.
