Knossington & Somerby Pre-school
We believe that outdoor learning is very important and our location is perfect to ensure that many of the learning experiences we offer our children are unique.
About Us
Knossington & Somerby Preschool aims to provide high quality childcare and education in a safe and friendly environment. We nurture the children through play, to learn and develop in six key areas following Early Years Foundation Stage Guidance. We offer a wide range of activities which challenge and stimulate children, preparing them for school and life as happy and confident individuals. Play is always child led but we ensure that they achieve nationally approved learning outcomes so that they progress with confidence to Primary School
Here at Knossington and Somerby Preschool we take children’s health very seriously. We are part of the Healthy Teeth, Happy Smiles Campaign. After each lunch session the children all take part in supervised tooth brushing. This campaign aims to improve the oral health of children and reduce tooth decay and associated health issues.
What can I do to improve my child's oral health?
Take your child to see a dentist before they are one and go regularly Brush your child’s teeth as soon as the first tooth appears Brush at least twice a day Do not rinse after brushing, just spit out the toothpaste Use a fluoride toothpaste Ask your dentist about fluoride varnish Limit sugary drinks and snacks to meal times
The Committee
Knossington & Somerby Pre-school is a charity run pre-school managed by a committee of volunteers. We are also a Limited Company and a member of the Early Years Alliance which offers support in all aspects of running a pre-school including a fully tailored insurance package. We encourage parents to join the pre-school committee as we rely on parents’ support for administration and fundraising. We hold an informal meeting once each half term which is a great opportunity to see what goes on behind the scenes and meet other parents.
Fees
We charge £4.85/hour.
In the term following a child’s 3rd birthday they are eligible for funding for 15 hours/week from Leicestershire County Council. Low income families may be eligible for funding for 2 year olds, please ask.
We operate several voucher schemes so please ask when you register your child.
